NEVER STAY AT A HOLIDAY INN

For the past week, I have been suffering the worst customer relations catastrophe imaginable.  I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Brooklyn Downtown for two nights last weekend to celebrate my three year anniversary with my boyfriend in New York City.  The stay was fine.  The rooms were a bit small, but the people were nice and it was pleasant.

Then, BAM I get an unexpected charge of $138.31 to my checking account.  Confused, I called them right away and they said they were very sorry and that they would remove the charge.  Later, I noticed that the charge was changed to $3.50 and a second charge of $138.31 was added to my account.  I called again.  It took four separate phone calls before the genius at the front desk said that the manager wouldn’t be in until the next day and that no one in the office could help me.

So, I left a message to her voice mail and she called me back the next day.  She said that she was very sorry.  The charge of $3.50 was a tax (that I was never told about) and that it was charged to me correctly.  The second charge would be refuded to my account and should appear within a day or two.

Which brings us to today.  And now my account shows the $3.50 charge from March 16, a $138.31 charge from March 17, and now ANOTHER $138.49 charge from yesterday!!!  WHAT THE HELL!!!!!  I’m a student!  I can’t afford this!!!!!  So, I called her and I was like “Um, you charged me again.  What the hell.” and she was like “Um, no, our records show that we just sent you $138.31 yesterday and we can send you the records to prove it.” And I was like “I don’t care what your records tell you but I am now down over $250 for no reason and I can prove that too.”  And then she basically accused me of lying.

So I sent her a screen shot of my bank account and she said she’d call me as soon as she got it.  They called me a half hour later, saying that it has been credited to my account and I was like “Okay, but I have been told that a total of three times now and I don’t believe you.”

So now I guess I need to wait another day to see that they charged me again or something.  I am so angry.  This is the worst experience that I have ever had with any company ever.  I would just say “screw it” and never ever go to another Holiday Inn again, but $300 is literally half of my rent and I have less than $500 to my name at this point and I cannot afford to let that money go.

F*** you, Holiday Inn.  Sigh.
